Christy Theodore, LPCA, NCC, C-TP

THERAPY

Christy is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). She specializes in perinatal mental health, trauma, and sexual issues. She is passionate about helping women heal. Most of her clients are in the perinatal timeframe of their lives - trying to conceive, pregnant, postpartum, or in their early parenthood years - and are struggling with anxiety, depression, postpartum stress, or feeling overwhelmed. She is passionate about helping clients heal from trauma of all kinds, such as single incident, complex, childhood, sexual, miscarriage/infant loss, or birth/lactation trauma, etc.

Many of her clients are also women who have experienced sexual, relational, childhood, or generational trauma (or a combination of all) and have been in therapy before but are looking to process the deeper roots of their wounds. In addition to treating trauma and perinatal mental health, Christy sees individuals who are experiencing sexual challenges such as sexual pain, low desire, or are living with a sexually transmitted disease.

Christy's approach to counseling is authentic, gentle, compassionate, and direct. Each session is tailored for each individual based on their needs. Christy is trained in EMDR, IFS-informed, and pulls from various other evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). She believes that our family systems deeply impact us and that it is vital to process our origin stories in order to heal. Because trauma is stored in the body, the mind-body connection is an integral part of her practice. In addition, Christy identifies as a Christian. She can incorporate faith into counseling when a client requests this approach to treatment, however, she works with clients from a variety of belief systems and only includes client’s spiritual or religious beliefs when requested and appropriate.

Christy believes that people deserve to thrive in life. She considers it a great honor to walk alongside her clients on their healing journeys and would be honored to be a part of yours. You are able to utilize the email button or contact her business cell phone at: 859-287-4616.
